Every state has a law called the “Statute of Limitations” that sets the time limit within which you must file a personal injury lawsuit. If you miss the deadline you are unable to recover so it is important to discuss your claim with an attorney as early as you can.

Another question I get often hear at Holland & Usry is “how long do I had to bring my personal injury lawsuit?” Well the answer is it depends. Each state has a statute of limitations. This law limits the amount of time you had to bring a lawsuit. It depends on who you’re suing and what you're suing about, as to how long this period is. The important thing is, for you to speak to an attorney about your specific case, because if you miss this deadline you can never recover. So make sure you talk to a lawyer as soon as you can, if you believe you have a claim.
